The aim and focus of the research project
The project aims to research the specifics of legal regulation of settlement of investment disputes in the Republic of Kazakhstan as a guarantee in the mechanism of protection of investors' rights and improvement of investment climate and competitiveness of the Republic of Kazakhstan in modern realities. It covers the following issues:

• the concept and contents of investment disputes;
• the procedures for the settlement of investment disputes, including the maintenance of fair treatment for investors in their interaction with the state;
• the identification and description of current problems of law implementation and enforcement as well as making proposals for solving such problems, including for supporting investors and strengthening international legal cooperation of states in the field of settlement of investment disputes.

The originality and significance of the research project
The research project is the first fundamental comprehensive study of legal mechanism for settlement of investment disputes in Kazakhstan with the deep analysis of the current judicial practice, highlighting and systematizing the main problems that arise in the regulation of these disputes, as well as developing recommendations for resolving them. The systematization of existing legal knowledge under the study can become the basis for making a regulatory decision of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of investment law. The conclusions and recommendations of the research projects can also help participants of investment legal relations to increase the effectiveness of judicial protection of their rights and peaceful settlement of investment disputes.
